What is the Clinical Medical Assistant / Health Sciences – Clinical Medical Assistant Skills Assessment?

Once you start UMA’s Clinical Medical Assistant program, you must complete a mandatory assessment. You are required to complete it before the end of your first course, but we recommend completing it as soon as possible.

Here’s how to complete your assessment:

  • Step 1: Find an hour of time where you can get online that will be free of distractions.
  • Step 2: Click on the Skills Assessment module in your first course.
  • Step 3: Read the overview and when you are ready, click the link to go directly to the assessment.
  • Step 4: Complete the math, writing, and reading portions at your own pace.  The tests are not timed, and you can use a calculator on the math test. Take your time and read the questions carefully.

(Note: Please remember that once you move past the reading section of the Skills Assessment, you will not be able to go back. Ensure you are taking notes and reading carefully before moving forward.)

  • Step 5: After completing all three portions of the assessment, you’re all finished! You will receive an email with your results.

The results of your assessment are very important.

  • If you score within the Level 2 range in all areas, you will meet the assessment criteria and be able to continue in your program.
  • If you score within the Level 1 range in any area, you will be cancelled from the Clinical Medical Assistant/Health Sciences – Clinical Medical Assistant program.

If you have questions about the skills assessment before you take it, contact your advisor. If you have questions after taking the skills assessment, please wait until we share your assessment results with you and we can answer your questions at that time.
